European Affairs

The Federation of Municipalities of the Region of Murcia has identified the need for information and training for its members on the opportunities at European level that are specifically available to them. For this reason, the advisory service on European Programmes has been incorporated, aimed at facilitating the participation of municipalities in projects, through information on programmes and calls for proposals of interest, resolution of queries and training adapted to the demands of the members of the Commission of Europe and External Relations.

In this process of growth and research, we are achieving to be part of initiatives that promote European projects, such as:

1The FMRM supports the Green City Accord, and therefore promotes adherence to this agreement. Join us!

2. The FMRM is a promoter of the Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy. This is a European initiative in which municipalities commit to reducing CO2 emissions, improving energy efficiency, using renewable energy, and adapting to climate change.

The Federation of Municipalities is supporting its municipalities in joining both pacts.

3. The Federation of Municipalities of the Region of Murcia may accredit municipalities with the 1st European Seal of Excellence in Local Governance (ELoGE). This important distinction is a recognition system promoted by the Council of Europe (CoE) in order to guide the joint action of local governments toward effective and efficient municipal management, with a focus on sustainability.

4. The Capabilities Pact, whose purpose is to support public and private organizations in skills improvement and professional retrainingso that they can thrive through the ecological and digital transitions.

Members of the Pact have access to knowledge to boost the capabilities of adults in their regions and countries.

5. The New European Bauhaus (NEB) is a policy and funding initiative that aims to achieve a green transition in and beyond built environments that is pleasant, attractive, and practical for everyone. Even the smallest communities deserve livable spaces that enhance their well-being and sense of belonging. The initiative promotes solutions that are not only sustainable but also inclusive and appealing, respecting the diversity of places, traditions, and cultures in Europe and beyond.
