The FMRM's 2020 Continuing Education Plan has delivered 46 online courses to improve the management of local entities through employees.
The Federation of Municipalities of the Region of Murcia has implemented the Continuing Education Plan, ForCon2020, aimed at municipal employees to update them on current issues and aim to improve municipal management through employee learning.
This training plan, comprised of 46 training activities, was implemented from September to December 2020, with 60% of the sessions being conducted online, with virtual sessions via Zoom, Webex, or other tools.
The courses offered at ForCon 2020 include topics such as Agenda 2030 and Sustainable Development, occupational risk prevention specialising in Covid-19, European programmes, public equality policies, electronic administration, the Public Sector Contracts Act, data protection and patrimonial liability, among others.
This training plan has totaled 1576 students , corresponding to the local entities of the Region of Murcia, as well as employees of the regional administration who completed a total of 1124 teaching hours .
ForCon has been held at the FMRM since 1995 with subsidized funds for continuing education. According to Manuel Pato, Secretary General of the Federation of Municipalities, "This plan is essential for the proper functioning of local authorities, as their members are continually updated on topics that we must be up to date on to provide effective citizen service and achieve quality local management." Pato also asserts that "despite the health crisis and the obstacles we face, the challenge of ForCon2020 has been to transform the in-person training model into an online model with videoconferencing."
