The FMRM's 2020 Continuing Education Plan will provide 46 online courses to improve the management of local entities through employees

The Federation of Municipalities of the Region of Murcia is immersed in the Continuous Training Plan, ForCon2020, aimed at municipal employees to update them on current issues that aim to help improve the management of city councils thanks to the learning of workers.

This training plan, which will end in December, is made up of 46 courses, 70% of which are conducted online with telematic sessions via Zoom, Webex, or other tools.

The remaining 30% is online, but FMRM explains that “we are moving towards a model in which all courses will hold online sessions, so that all students have direct contact with the teacher.”

The courses offered at ForCon 2020 include topics such as Agenda 2030 and Sustainable Development, occupational risk prevention specialising in Covid-19, European programmes, public equality policies, electronic administration, the Public Sector Contracts Act, data protection and patrimonial liability, among others.

This training plan has a total of 1500 students, corresponding to local entities in the Region of Murcia, as well as employees of the regional administration who will take around a thousand hours of courses.

ForCon has been held at the FMRM since 1995 with subsidized funds for ongoing training. The Secretary General of the Federation of Municipalities, Manuel Pato, said that “this plan is essential for the proper functioning of local entities, since their members are continually retrained in topics in which we must be up to date in order to provide good service to citizens and achieve quality local management.” Pato also assures that “despite the health crisis and the obstacles that we face, the challenge of ForCon2020 will be to transform the face-to-face training model to a telematic one with videoconference.”

The Federation of Municipalities of the Region of Murcia is a benchmark in training and its data supports it, since throughout its history it has carried out 1.107 courses pertaining to the development of 25 plans, 30.822 teaching hours, 22.043 participants and the management of 3,17 million euros for its implementation since 1995.
