The FMRM considers it risky to develop conciliation as proposed by the Education and Social Affairs departments of the CARM.
The Federation has requested a meeting with the General Directorate of Health to resolve the doubts that this project generates for local entities.
The new school year begins next Monday, September 14, in the midst of a regional wave of infections and many doubts about the measures being taken by the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia (CARM).
The Federation of Municipalities of the Region of Murcia (FMRM) already expressed a few days ago its disagreement with the measures that the Health and Social Policy departments of the Autonomous Community are going to implement in this unusual return to school, since in the opinion of the majority of mayors, conciliation should not supplant education and this cannot become a risk for the educational community.
The fact is that conciliation, as proposed by the CARM, would lead to the mixing of students of different ages and schools in municipal spaces and in complementary activities, which could mean a greater risk of contagion. This factor is what has generated certain doubts and concerns among municipal councillors.
The FMRM has already provided its collaboration to the autonomous community for the start of the school year, and in a first meeting it set out its position through the participation of two mayors, Inma Sánchez Roca and Mariola Guevara Cava, in the working table convened by the Ministry of Social Policy. At this meeting a second meeting was requested, which after being requested in writing by the FMRM has not yet taken place to date.
For this reason, the FMRM has now conveyed the need to hold a meeting with the General Directorate of Health to clarify doubts, increase security and reduce risks, if this is possible, according to the proposed conciliation model.
