MED-Hubs drives innovation in the Mediterranean blue economy by connecting technology, communities and the market.

The Federation of Municipalities acts as a key partner, ensuring that MED-Hubs solutions meet the real needs of coastal communities and generate tangible benefits at the local level.

MED-Hubs is an ambitious European initiative that strengthens the blue economy of the Western Mediterranean, transforming cutting-edge ideas into market-ready solutions.

The project establishes two interconnected blue economy hubs: one in Spain, focused on marine renewable energy, and another in Italy, dedicated to sustainable fishing and aquaculture. This creates a powerful interregional ecosystem for collaboration and technology validation. Through open calls for pilot projects, MED-Hubs rigorously tests emerging technologies under real-world operating conditions, accelerating market confidence and adoption.

The FMRM connects MED-Hubs with local authorities and coastal communities, ensuring broad participation in the Spanish testbed and the Blue Economy Community. Our role is essential for integrating innovation into local development plans. The Federation helps ensure that MED-Hubs solutions reflect the real needs of the community and generate tangible local benefits.

The project brings together SMEs, startups, researchers, ports, fisheries, investors, policymakers, and coastal communities to jointly shape the future of the blue economy. Its ambition is not only to strengthen innovation capacity in Spain and Italy, but also to build a model that other Mediterranean regions can replicate through its Expansion Program.

By building a growing community of blue economy professionals, MED-Hubs invites all stakeholders to participate in events, mentorships, and knowledge sharing. Join the MED-Hubs Community at www.deep-ecosystems.com/med-hubs and be part of the movement driving sustainable maritime innovation.
