The president of the Federation of Municipalities, Víctor Manuel López, and the representative of the College of Secretaries, Auditors and Treasurers of Local Administration (Cosital) in Murcia, committed themselves in a meeting to create avenues of collaboration between both entities for the benefit of the local public administration.
The agenda of the presidency of the Federation of Municipalities to attend to the social fabric involved with local administration was resumed yesterday with the new representative of the FMRM, Víctor Manuel López Abenza. Among the visits he received at the new facilities of the federation, was that of Maravillas Abadía, president of Cosital Murcia, which is the College of Secretaries, Auditors and Treasurers of Local Administration.
The main topic discussed was the possibility of signing a collaboration agreement to help each other on issues that are important for the day-to-day management of the region's town councils, and to provide support for the governing teams of this local public administration, which is, after all, the closest to the citizens.
Among the issues put on the table, one was the possibility of carrying out a joint training programme aimed at local administration technicians and politicians, mayors and councillors, especially the new elected officials who require advice and training on the legal and economic functioning of the councils in the first months of their journey.
Furthermore, one of the problems that most concerns this professional sector, and for which they ask for close collaboration with the Federation of Municipalities, is the service commissions of national qualified professionals. And the fact is that, at present, due to a modification of the bases of the competition, the possibility is closed for secretaries, auditors and treasurers who have occupied their job in a town hall for some time, to remain in said council and on the contrary are forced to move to another even though they do not meet the desired requirements, such as the distance or the characteristics of said council.
The president of the Federation and mayor of Ulea promised to deal with this issue with “the greatest possible respect and emphasis to achieve a result that is convenient for both the town councils and for this type of workers who are a key part of the functioning of the local administration.”
For his part, the Secretary General Manuel Pato will take advantage of the meeting of the secretariat of the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP), which will be held on December 4, to discuss this problem and try to raise this issue with the aim of finding a comfortable solution for the municipalities.
