The FMRM and the Government Delegation will work together on matters of municipal scope and impact
The president of the Federation of Municipalities of the Region of Murcia and its general secretary met this morning with the Government delegate to establish lines of collaboration and periodic work meetings on matters of employment, public safety and cleaning of rivers and gullies.
The president of the Federation of Municipalities of the Region of Murcia, Joaquín Hernández, and its general secretary, Manuel Pato, held a meeting this morning with the new Government delegate in Murcia, Francisco Bernabé, with the aim of showing their willingness to maintain collaboration between both institutions in those matters that are of municipal scope and impact.
Thus, during the meeting it was agreed to hold a series of meetings and regular contacts to work together on matters of public safety, delimitation of municipal responsibilities in the cleaning of rivers and gullies, and Regional Employment Councils, in this case to update the programme and the criteria followed for the incorporation of Town Councils and the distribution of funds.
The FMRM has expressly asked the Government Delegation to attend to requests for Civil Guard personnel in rural areas, since there are not enough personnel to cover these areas, and to intervene in the relationship between the town councils and the Segura Hydrographic Confederation so that the responsibilities for maintenance and cleaning of the river banks are assumed, "a problem that we have been dragging on for some time and that has the mayors very worried," as Hernández has assured.
He also stressed that "it is very important to establish joint work spaces to provide a comprehensive response to citizens on different issues that affect both institutions."
Bernabé, for his part, has shown himself to be very sensitive to the problems of the municipalities and has announced his willingness to address the situations raised by the FMRM; at the same time he agrees on the need for coordination between both organisations.
In terms of collaboration in the fight against terrorism, the visit and presence of the Government delegate at the next meeting of the FMRM Citizen Security Commission has been established, together with those responsible for national security, to advance this coordination, as well as the training of local personnel in this specific area.
