The FMRM requests the Health Minister to provide the criteria for the vaccination plan following complaints from some mayors about the reduction in vaccination sites.
The Secretary General of the Federation, Manuel Pato, suggests to Juan José Pedreño that the proximity criterion could be key to the success of the regional vaccination process.
The Federation of Municipalities of the Region of Murcia held a meeting with the Minister of Public Health of the CARM, Juan José Pedreño Planes, and the Secretary General of said Ministry, Andrés Torrente, to discuss the modification of the vaccination plan in the region in accordance with the initial guidelines, in which the 45 municipalities collaborated.
The mayoral offices have made human resources, municipal buildings, and materials available to the Ministry of Health to carry out vaccination campaigns in the various municipalities. Thousands of people have already been vaccinated in pavilions, health centers, and other municipal facilities to avoid the need for older adults to travel and thus achieve a higher percentage of vaccinated citizens.
Representatives of the FMRM, María Dolores Muñoz as its president and Manuel Pato, its general secretary, accompanied by their vice presidents, the mayors of Ulea and Lorca, have requested the regional government's criteria for this vaccination plan following complaints from numerous mayors about the changes in vaccination locations and the forced displacement of residents of many municipalities to other towns in a very complicated social situation due to the pandemic itself.
Pato told the Councilor that one of the keys to success is the proximity criterion to ensure that the maximum number of Murcians are vaccinated in the shortest possible time.
For its part, the department justifies this change by the needs and demands of the vaccine's conditions, and the need for staff rest, which is affected by the rotation of the professionals involved.
For her part, María Dolores Muñoz says that, “in a process as vital as this, we must take into account not only the simplicity of the process to achieve the objective, but also proper coordination between all the administrations involved, with loyalty and common sense, so as not to break the chain of work and ensure that the entire region is vaccinated.”
Both organizations have established a coordination meeting to be held at least once a month for the duration of the pandemic.
