This agreement encourages training, capacity building, guidance and inclusion programs to facilitate access to the labor market for this group.
The president of the Federation of Municipalities of the Region of Murcia, Víctor Manuel López Abenza, and the regional director of Inserta Empleo in Murcia, Delia Torralba, have signed an agreement to promote employment for people with disabilities in the municipalities of the aforementioned autonomous community.
This agreement establishes a framework for collaboration to improve the situation of people with disabilities in the labour market by establishing training, recruitment, referral, guidance and inclusion programmes for these people in the labour market, with the aim of facilitating their access to quality employment.
It also provides for the joint design and execution of specific actions for young people with disabilities, with the aim of promoting their incorporation into the labour market and raising awareness in the business sector about investing in young talent. The agreement also includes collaboration with the associative network of the Region of Murcia so that the provision of services to people with disabilities is channelled through the different associations that represent them.
The president of the Federation of Municipalities of the Region of Murcia has assured that, "if there is something that strengthens the muscle of the Federation of Municipalities, it is the agreements with such important organizations as Inserta Empleo, since it increases the ties with the social and economic fabric of the Region of Murcia, whose work is as fundamental as helping to create employment, something that in the town councils, with our limited powers in this regard, we cannot ignore, being the administration closest to the citizens." López Abenza has also said that, "from the federation we will promote as much as possible the tasks to which we commit ourselves to achieve the objectives of this agreement that, without a doubt, wants to collaborate in improving the quality of life of people with disabilities."
For her part, Delia Torralba has stated that the signed agreement “is very important to improve and promote care for people with disabilities, since the federation is the one that best knows the problems of the citizens of this region through its local corporations.” In this sense, she added that the agreement will allow “to join forces and share resources, something that will surely have an impact on increasing the employability of people with disabilities in the Region of Murcia.”
This agreement also aims to raise awareness among citizens, social agents and organisations and institutions about the capabilities of people with disabilities. In addition, this framework of collaboration between both entities promotes dissemination actions and their participation in fairs, conferences, seminars and other activities.
Since 2020, the ONCE Foundation entity has obtained 1.317 contracts for people with disabilities in the Region of Murcia, has guided 5.006 job seekers, and provided 249 training activities in which 1.496 students have participated.
This agreement is part of the state ESF+ programmes of 'Youth Employment' (CCI 2021ES05SFPR001) and 'Social Inclusion, Child Guarantee and Fight Against Poverty' (2021ES05SFPR003) that the ONCE Foundation is developing through Inserta Empleo, with co-financing from the European Union to increase the training and employment of people with disabilities.
