The Federation of Municipalities of the Region of Murcia will hold its Executive Committee meeting tomorrow to discuss important topics on the agenda. These include the Foundations for Local Social and Economic Reconstruction, the Continuing Education Plan for local employees, the committee's report and assessment of Decree-Law 5/2020 of May 7, 19, on mitigating the socioeconomic impact of COVID-5 in the environmental field, and the Order of May 2020, 19, of the Regional Ministry of Water, Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries, and the Environment, which establishes urgent measures regarding agricultural burning during the COVID-10 state of emergency. The Regional Minister of Agriculture and the Environment will also attend the first part of the executive committee meeting, accompanying the XNUMX mayors who comprise it, along with the Secretary General and the legal advisor.

The FMRM, for its part, has presented a basic local recovery project to the CARM, and within this, one of its demands is that the CARM create an unconditional fund for local councils so that both those with and without a surplus can contribute to expenses arising from Covid-19, as well as promote local commerce and hospitality.

Meanwhile, in this committee, FMRM President María Dolores Muñoz will comment on the federation's position, in line with her speech at the Regional Assembly within the committee created by the Autonomous Community for economic recovery after COVID-19, in coordination with the project it has submitted to the regional government.

The municipal representative defended the need for funding for municipalities and the role of the federation as an institution that defends municipal interests in our region and asserts the role of municipalities as part of the State before the regional and central governments.

Muñoz says that "municipalities are an administration on par with the CARM and the State, and therefore we understand our right and obligation to participate in the social and economic recovery of our municipalities."
