The Federation of Municipalities has added to its long list of information days held, one dedicated to the New Bauhaus, innovation and European funding. The Secretary General of the Federation, Antonio Moreno García, accompanied by the President of the CES, José Antonio Cobacho, was in charge of inaugurating the event, which was attended by some 70 people, among whom were mayors, councillors and municipal technicians.
The main focus has been on transforming cities and towns into more sustainable places through beautiful and safe architectural solutions that, above all, are respectful of the environment.
The FMRM, in collaboration with Eurovértice, organised an informative talk with the following speakers: Marcos Ros Sempere, member of the European Parliament and expert on the central theme of the talk; Nuria Prior, director of the consultancy firm specialising in European projects, co-organiser of the event; municipal engineers from the town councils of Lorquí and Blanca, Diego Barberán and Pablo Gil de Pareja; Antonio Trigueros from the Technological Centre for Construction (CTCON) and Pablo Candela from RNC, a company dedicated to the application of environmental solutions in the circular economy sector; all of them led at the panel of speakers by the current director of European projects at the FMRM, Manuel Pato.
The speakers have recounted success stories that respond to this type of European philosophy, and which are already being applied in municipalities.
Among the issues discussed during the conference, one of the most notable was that municipalities in the region can apply for Horizon Europe research funds, allocated annually with 120 million euros, to find sustainable architectural solutions. In addition, small municipalities can obtain vouchers for technical assistance to access these lines of programmes with which to launch projects of this type.
More and more municipalities in the region are leading or participating as partners in projects funded by the European Union. For example, municipalities such as Cartagena, Lorca, Blanca or Lorquí have already requested aid within this Bauhaus LIFE project, which among other objectives, aims to green cities.
