Murcia, Cartagena, Alcantarilla, Totana and San Javier are part of this agreement that allows the incorporation of military personnel into the local police force through recruitment processes.
The Ministry of Defense and the Federation of Municipalities of the Region of Murcia (FMRM) have today established the Joint Commission for the control and monitoring of the agreement signed on November 17, 2025, whose objective is to promote the incorporation into the civilian labor field of military personnel of troops and sailors with more than five years of experience in the Armed Forces.
To guarantee this incorporation, the municipalities adhering to the agreement commit to reserving a number of places in the terms of their calls for applications for local police officers, although as the Defense delegate in the Region has pointed out, “the talent among the members of the army is abundant and very varied, and these could access other job offers from the public administration and not only the Local Police.”
The inaugural meeting took place at the headquarters of the Defense Delegation in the Region of Murcia, with the participation of representatives from the Ministry of Defense, the Delegation itself and the FMRM, formally appointing the members of this joint commission, among whom is the general secretary of the Federation of Municipalities Antonio Moreno.
Among the main actions planned within the framework of the agreement are: the dissemination of the agreement among both military personnel and the municipalities of the Region of Murcia, the creation of a regional map that allows knowing which municipalities reserve places in their calls for access to the Local Police forces, the establishment of a monitoring protocol to evaluate how many places are reserved, how many are created and how many are awarded, as well as the promotion of new municipal adherences to the agreement.
Currently, the municipalities that have already reserved places for military personnel are Murcia, Cartagena, Alcantarilla, San Javier and Totana.
The next follow-up meeting of the Joint Commission will be held in the second half of January 2027, with the aim of assessing progress and continuing to strengthen this institutional collaboration in favor of employment and labor integration of military personnel.
