The socialist María Dolores Muñoz, elected unanimously, is the first woman to hold this position
The new Executive Committee of the FMRM
The Federation of Municipalities of the Region of Murcia has new governing bodies from today after holding its 40th General Assembly within the framework of the events celebrating the XNUMXth anniversary of democratic town councils. Thus, the mayor of Bullas, María Dolores Muñoz, has been elected to succeed the also socialist and mayor of Lorquí, Joaquín Hernández, as president of the FMRM.
The mayor, the first woman to hold this position, has assured during her inauguration that she does so with great enthusiasm and pride and that she will defend consensus and the interests of citizens above all else. In addition, she has stated that she will continue to demand a Fair Financing Law for local administrations from the Regional Government, as her colleague Hernández has already done during these four years. She has also acknowledged the important work carried out during this period in the Federation.
For his part, the mayor of Lorquí has indicated that he was leaving “the post with a certain nostalgia already, and I have just done so, but happy and proud of what I have achieved.” He also stated that “the spirit of consensus, dialogue and understanding in which I believe and which I practice in my life has also permeated our relations during this time, between us and with other administrations. We have treated them with the institutional respect they deserve. The same that we have asked for in the way they treat us.”
Hernández, who has confessed to being in love with municipalism, has recalled the staunch defence that the FMRM has been making of a law on local financing and a clarification of competences that allows the town councils to provide the services that citizens need and demand.

– Victor Manuel Lopez, Mayor of Ulea, as First Vice President.
– Diego José Mateos, Mayor of Lorca, as second vice president.
And as vowels:
