We live in a world that is increasingly aware of and concerned about the impact of our economy on the environment and the legacy we will leave to future generations in terms of the habitability of our planet.
In recent years, three major international agreements will take place: the Paris Agreement on Climate Change , the 2030 Agenda on 17 sustainable development goals (UN), and the Ministerial Declaration of the United Nations General Assembly on "towards a pollution-free planet".
With all this, the paradigm of the Circular Economy is born , with objectives and strategies to be developed in the next 20 years.
In September 2015, Paris issued a call to “ European cities for a circular economy .” In Spain, the 2017 Seville Declaration was the seed of the “ commitment of Spanish cities to the Circular Economy ,” where city councils pledge to promote a sustainable, inclusive, and resilient urban development model (SDG 11), committing to an economy that favors zero waste, recycling, reduction of ecological waste, and reuse, where waste, if any, is a resource.
In our aim to promote and drive this new economic model, where local governments play an important role due to our proximity to citizens, we have organized this conference with ECOEMBES on “ MUNICIPAL MANAGEMENT: GATEWAY TO THE CIRCULAR ECONOMY ” and we hope to have your presence, that of councilors and technicians who may be interested, as well as local organizations aware of climate change and this new strategy.
