FMRM participates in a conference on European funding to implement free Wi-Fi in municipalities
The European Wifi4eu Initiative, which promotes free and secure wireless connections in all European public spaces, the European Data Protection Regulation and the implementation of Smart Cities in municipalities within the European framework, were some of the aspects addressed during the conference that took place this week within the framework of the actions included in 'Easy Europe', organized by the Directorate General of the European Union, External Action and Cooperation and the Federation of Municipalities of the Region of Murcia.
The Director General of the European Union, External Action and Cooperation, Manuel Pleguezuelo, who opened the day, together with the general secretary of the FMRM, Manuel Pato, explained that «The purpose is to publicize European initiatives and regulations, which, as is the case of Wifi4eu, are the subject of a call addressed to municipalities that promote digital transformation and the use of new technologies.«.
For his part, the Secretary General of FMRM assured that: “All administrations must make the effort to respond more efficiently and effectively to the demands of our citizens. We are basically public servants and therefore we must undertake all those initiatives that improve the lives and communication of our neighbors.”, including those linked to new technologies, which improve citizen accessibility to administrations.
