Both institutions sign a protocol for the exchange of information and the streamlining of procedures to close down dangerous unused wells

The Segura Hydrographic Confederation (CHS) and the Federation of Municipalities of the Region of Murcia (FMRM) have signed a collaboration agreement through which they agree to work together to find and seal unsafe wells. The president of the CHS, mario urrea, and the FMRM, Joaquin Hernandez, signed this morning the agreement, which will allow the communication of irregular surveys detected to the municipalities by the river basin authority so that it can take the security measures it considers appropriate.

The detection of abandoned and illegal wells is a task in which all citizens and public administrations can collaborate, especially those with personnel on the ground: hydrographic confederations, environmental departments, Civil Guard and town councils. In this sense, when the existence of wells that may be dangerous is known, the CHS formulates a request to the owner to proceed with their sealing and simultaneously to the town council so that it is aware of the existence and, if necessary, to carry out the sealing tasks since it is geolocated in its municipal area.

The CHS has also prepared an information note in which it offers a series of tips on wells, reminding owners to take the necessary measures to ensure their safety, which is an unavoidable obligation.

The guide is available on the website
https://www.chsegura.es/chs/servicios/informacionpublica/pozosysondeos/
and on the river basin organization’s social media profiles.
In addition, it has made available to citizens the telephone with Whatsapp 679448050 and email pozos@chsegura.es so that they can communicate with the river basin authority in the event that they find an uncovered well.
