FMRM and local councils will collaborate with proposals to create a new regional passenger transport map
The Secretary General of the Ministry of Public Works, Yolanda Muñoz, has presented the new Transport Master Plan to the Sectoral Board of the Municipalities, at the headquarters of the FMRM
The municipalities will be divided into six mobility areas to make their contributions
The Autonomous Community has proposed to the municipalities the creation of six mobility areas in the new regional passenger transport map in which the 45 municipalities of the Region of Murcia will be grouped. This was proposed by the general secretary of the Ministry of the Presidency and Development, Yolanda Muñoz, during the first meeting of the Sectorial Board of Transport of the Municipalities held at the headquarters of the Federation of Municipalities of the Region of Murcia. The meeting was chaired by the president of the FMRM, Joaquín Hernández, and attended by the General Director of Transport, José Ramón Díez de Revenga.
During the meeting, the Transport Master Plan for the Region of Murcia was also presented, which is intended to be agreed upon with all the actors involved in it. “The objective is to design a modern, intermodal, efficient, accessible, environmentally sustainable transport network and, above all, adapted to current demands in order to be closer to people and to promote the use of public transport instead of private vehicles.”
For his part, the president of the FMRM has expressed his intention to collaborate in the design of this new model, since “we are the town councils, the administration closest to the citizens, the most sensitive and knowledgeable of their needs, so our contributions can be fundamental and it is important that they are taken into account, if we want an efficient and effective system”.
The proposed areas are: Murcia, Río Mula, Vega Alta and Orienta, Valle del Guadalentín, Altiplano, Noroeste and Litoral. Each area will have reference bus stations to cover the entire area and connect with the radial and transversal corridors.
