The President of the FMRM, Mª Dolores Muñoz, holds a telematic Coordination meeting with the FEMP and other Territorial Federations.
In the video conference in which the president of the FMRM participated with Abel Caballero, a biweekly meeting was agreed with all the territorial authorities for better coordination in the de-escalation.
The Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces, FEMP, has called a telematic meeting this afternoon with all the territorial presidents of the federations of municipalities. The representative of the Murcian, María Dolores Muñoz, has participated to learn about the progress that said institution is making with the Government of Spain to participate in decision-making, and thus be able to have effective coordination for social and economic reconstruction.
According to its president, Abel Caballero, the FEMP is part of a Commission together with the Ministry of Territorial Policy, the Ministry of the Fourth Vice-Presidency, and technicians and experts in this health crisis, to achieve this reconstruction, and therefore, to keep the rest of the federations informed from now on of said progress. This commission meets every week to share needs and the real situation in the municipalities. They also meet with the President of the Government of Spain, Pedro Sánchez, every 15 days.
The FMRM's top representative commented in this regard that "Caballero has made it clear that the City Councils have to contribute to the de-escalation following the instructions of the Health Department and that this will be asymmetrical and diverse like the nature of this country, since each territory has its own idiosyncrasy and different data on the coronavirus."
He added that "the president of the FEMP himself has said that the municipalities are the only ones who are not asking for money, so it is only fair that they let us use our surplus to support the reconstruction of the territories."
Thus, as the Federation of Municipalities of the Region of Murcia has been demanding, it is essential for the City Councils to modify the spending rule and promote the liquidity of those councils that are in a difficult economic situation in order to contribute to the recovery.
Regarding the mayors' concern about the de-escalation, three levels were discussed at the meeting: public transport, being in favour of restricting it for greater private use; commerce; and tourism and hospitality.
Regarding the permission for children to go skiing accompanied by adults starting tomorrow, the FRMR calls for caution so that the situation is controlled, since they assure that “in the region of Murcia there are 257.294 children up to 14 years old, who together with an adult can be a maximum of 514.588 people who can go skiing.”
