The year we left behind 45 days ago has brought us to what we are experiencing now. And we count the time like this, because we have no choice but to have a short-term mindset, where every day the minutes become hours, without being able to make plans, or for the future to continue being “what is not yet but will be”. Despite this and everything else, the FMRM did have plans, and some of them were with Pepe Molina, to continue with the fight that we had started in the previous legislature.
One morning on a day of the “new normal”, not more than 60 days ago, with all its hours of changes, and cancelled plans, Pepe called the Federation of Municipalities to offer us to participate in the Open Chair for Innovation and Citizen Participation of the University of Murcia and the UPCT. There was nothing to think about, it seemed like an idea worthy of Pepe, to support this initiative in which he made us part of through the City Council of Molina. With the usual poise of the former President of the Transparency Council of the Region of Murcia, we embarked on it, because Pepe made it easy for us, very easy.
He managed to make the difficult simple, the seemingly banal necessary, the lasting immediate. He fought to make transparency, communication and the rights of citizens something that could not be renounced, evident even to the most stubborn eye, to the most implacable gaze.
In his memory, for what he achieved and for what he worked for, we must continue his legacy, using the strength of all the words that have been dedicated to him these days after his sudden departure due to the virus that has changed everything, with actions, with coherence and with dignity towards his memory.
Thank you for paving the way, thank you for your bravery despite the windmills you found on it. We will honor your memory, knowing that it will be difficult to hold the spear with your same skill.
