Coronavirus (Covid-19). Latest recommendations

20200312

Mª Dolores Muñoz , president of the FMRM, and the Secretary General, Manuel Pato , held a meeting this morning with the Minister of Health, Manuel Villegas , the Director General of Public Health and Addictions, José Carlos Vicente , as well as the vice president of the FMRM, Víctor Manuel Abenza , to inform them about the Order of the Ministry of Health approved this morning, where new measures are adopted in relation to the Global Coronavirus Pandemic (Covid-19). We report on the course of the meeting.

The Order has two parts:

First - Preventive measures. In addition to the suspension of sports activities, the preventive measures include the closure of leisure centers for the elderly.

Second – Recommendations. It is advised to suspend any event or meeting of more than 50 people . Teleworking is also recommended to the extent possible.

Given the diverse circumstances that may arise in our municipalities, the general principle must ultimately prevail that any activity where a minimum distance between people of between 1,5 and 2 meters cannot be guaranteed is liable to be suspended, postponed, or directly, not carried out.

On the other hand, it's important to note that we are seeing an influx of people from affected areas into our region, primarily in coastal municipalities. Given this, it is advisable that they remain at home for the first 14 days , only leaving for essential needs such as grocery shopping and pharmacy visits. At this point, it would be beneficial for the local police to assist in guiding them through the necessary procedures.

Finally, with the review of school closures starting next Monday, two issues must be taken into account.

  1. The aim is for children to be at home, so they do not occupy common spaces with other children.
  2. Any additional activities that may be organised by the town council or its dependent associations must be suspended.

In other news, the forecast for next week is the closure of the Day Centres, leaving those that offer essential specific treatments in operation.

We must also emphasize the effort we must make in the area of cleaning and hygiene , both personal and of external and internal spaces, handrails, tables, computers, etc... cleaning that must be carried out with disinfectant products such as bleach or similar.

The FMRM General Secretariat will inform mayors of any changes in measures that may occur based on the evolution of the incidence of the virus, in this way we coordinate the same message for everyone.
