The 45 municipalities of the Region join the 'Health School' to promote healthy lifestyle habits
The Minister of Health and the President of the Federation of Municipalities sign an agreement to provide citizens with information on health care through different actions
This initiative is structured into four lines of action related to health, patients, the environment and health resources.
The 45 municipalities of the Region are joining the 'Health School', an initiative of the regional Government to engage people in the care of their health, following the signing of an agreement between the Minister of Health, Manuel Villegas, and the President of the Federation of Municipalities of the Region, Joaquín Hernández.
Manuel Villegas highlighted the “cooperation between administrations, institutions and associations” for the development of this project, which aims to improve people’s quality of life. In this regard, he indicated that “this project will be fundamental as a space where people can access to learn about the resources available to them in terms of health and how to improve their life or social habits.”
For his part, the president of FMRM assured that this is a project in which he personally believes and assures that “very interesting proposals are being made in many municipalities of the Region and that the Health School is an effective way to coordinate everyone's efforts and transmit good practices.”
The Regional Ministry of Health offers this new regional public health service, complementary to health care, to citizens of all localities in the Region in order to provide them with the necessary knowledge to enjoy good health, maintain it to achieve greater well-being and know how to take proper care of themselves in case of illness.
The programme includes activities with different methodologies and formats ranging from courses, workshops and face-to-face talks to work groups, information and training via the Internet.
This initiative, linked to the National Network of Health Schools for Citizens, coordinated by the Ministry of Health, Social Services and Equality, "aims to achieve healthier citizens with a better quality of life," said Villegas.
Four lines of action
The 'Health School' initiative consists of four axes. The Health Classroom is intended to promote health and prevent disease by encouraging healthy habits; the Patient Classroom is aimed at providing information and training to people suffering from various diseases, as well as their carers. On the other hand, the Environmental Classroom focuses on the effects of various environmental factors on health and the most appropriate protection measures; and the Health Resources Classroom aims to raise awareness about the risks of inappropriate use of medicines and diagnostic resources, as well as aspects of patient safety.
The contents of the 'Health School' can be found on the website www.escueladesaludmurcia.es. The portal includes activities aimed at prevention, health promotion and self-care and creates a collaborative and multidisciplinary space that serves as a link between professionals, users, patients and associations in general.
This initiative is made up of professionals and representatives of the Murcian Health Service, of the general directorates of the Ministry of Health, representatives and technicians of several town councils and active representatives of patient associations. The general coordination of the School corresponds to the general director of Public Health and Addictions, while the methodological and logistical support and operational coordination correspond to the Foundation for Health Training and Research of the Region of Murcia.
