The municipalities will strengthen cooperation with the CARM to create jobs through the social economy.
The municipalities of the Region of Murcia will collaborate with the Regional Government to create jobs and wealth through the social economy. This was the conclusion of a meeting held this morning at the headquarters of the Federation of Municipalities of the Region of Murcia between local governments and the Autonomous Community for the presentation of the "Pact for Excellence in the Social Economy," which includes a total of 600 measures to mobilize more than €52 million through 2020.
The meeting was chaired by the Minister of Employment, Universities, and Business, Juan Hernández; the President of the FMRM, Joaquín Hernández; the President of UCOMUR, Juan Antonio Pedreño; and the Secretary General of the Federation, Manuel Pato.
"We, the local councils, have been investing in and getting involved in this model of growth and improving job opportunities in our towns, as it has demonstrated its resilience to the crisis and its ability to create jobs and businesses in municipalities, regardless of their conditions. Furthermore, it opens up numerous opportunities for local councils to provide services," the president of the FMRM emphasized.
For his part, the councilor expressed his gratitude for the Federation's invitation to contact and convey these measures to the local government, "which is the one that is on the ground with the citizens." He also indicated that through this formula, which is an important model for the penetration and integration of the entire territory, the aim is for any municipality, even if it has less favorable conditions for large companies to set up shop, to have the same opportunities to generate economic activity and employment. Thus, the goal is to strengthen cooperation to foster new initiatives that provide the same opportunities to all Murcians, regardless of where they live.
The two main areas of work to be pursued through this agreement, which aims to create 250 and 1.500 jobs, are the creation of new companies and increasing their competitiveness through internationalization, innovation, and human resource development.
For his part, Pedreño emphasized that they have been working very closely with the municipalities through agreements, and that this effort will continue to maintain the figures from the beginning of 2018, in which a total of 12 cooperatives have been created so far this month and 38 business projects will be launched in the coming days.
