'+ Que Emple-a' is an initiative coordinated by Cepaim, with the collaboration of the City Council of Lorca, the University of Murcia and the Federation of Municipalities of the Region of Murcia (FMRM)
The city has hosted a day of monitoring and displaying objective data from this study, focused on those aspects that can improve the lives of immigrant women in the Region, through the perception of the Minimum Vital Income (IMV) when it is implemented together with other methodological complements.
Representatives of the City Councils of Lorca, Totana, Mazarrón and Alhama de Murcia, who are participating in the meeting, attended the meeting; along with representatives of the Cepaim Foundation; +Que Emple-a and the Federation of Municipalities of the Region of Murcia.
The data obtained will be evaluated, together with the Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration, resulting in a new intervention model.
Lorca has hosted one of the most important events in the development of Social Rights thanks to the research project '+ Que Emple-a', an initiative coordinated by Cepaim, with the collaboration of the University of Murcia and the Federation of Municipalities of the Region of Murcia (FMRM), and in which 100 immigrant women living in the municipality have participated.
The Lorca City Council, through the Department of Social Rights, and CONVIVE Fundación Cepaim are collaborating in the implementation of what is one of the 34 pilot experiences that are being carried out within the state framework in terms of support for the Minimum Vital Income (IMV) and the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan.
During the day, which was attended by representatives of the participating municipalities of Lorca, Totana, Mazarrón and Alhama de Murcia, the project was monitored, assessing the development of the activity in the different municipalities.
Specifically, the meeting was attended by the Councillor for Social Rights of Lorca, Mayte Martínez, together with her counterparts in the Town Hall of Totana, Isabel García Merinos; Mazarrón, María Isabel Carrillo Vivancos; and Alhama de Murcia, Daniel Ruano Díaz; as well as those responsible for Social Services of the aforementioned councils; in addition to Susana Henarejos Martínez, regional director of the Murcia Region of the Cepaim Foundation;
Purificación Piñero, coordinator of the Lorca centre; Sara Caja Vivancos, coordinator of the psychosocial care programme line; and Miriam Esquiva Vicente, coordinator of the '+Que Emple-a' project; who were accompanied by the general secretary of the Federation of Municipalities of the Region of Murcia, Manuel Pato.
Mayte Martínez has highlighted the importance of this European study, “which represents a turning point in knowledge regarding improvements in the labour and social inclusion of immigrant women.”
In this sense, as explained by Susana Henarejos, regional director in the Region of Murcia of the Cepaim Foundation, the project aims to compare and specify in which aspects the perception of the Minimum Living Income (MVI) can improve the lives of immigrant women in the Region of Murcia when it is implemented together with other methodological complements, such as inclusion itineraries and personalized support. Therefore, the economic aid provided is combined with assistance from a multidisciplinary team of professionals in social work, psychology, intercultural mediation and training.
In order to carry it out, a sample of more than 700 women has been selected, of which one hundred live in the municipality of Lorca. The women who participate in the project are divided into two groups: a 'Control Group', in which no intervention is carried out by the entity other than the monitoring of women who currently receive the IMV, and a 'Treatment Group', in which a multidisciplinary intervention is carried out by the specialist team.
The data obtained during the observation period between the 'Control Group' and the 'Treatment Group' will be transferred by CONVIVE Fundación Cepaim, to the Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration, with the aim of verifying the methodology implemented and validating the proposed intervention model.
